Earthquake in Haiti 2010

On Tuesday 12th January 2010 there was an earthquake in the capital of Haiti : Port-au-Prince.
The epicentre was in Léogane, west of Port-au-Prince.
Three million people are affected. There were 170 000 deaths.
The earthquake caused major damage in Port-au-Prince and in the area. Many countries responded to appeals for humanitarian aid: Medical teams, personnel ,sea transport facilities.

The last news

The last news is the disaster in Haiti, because there was an earthquake on the small island of the Caribbean. There were a lot of deaths because the earthquake was very violent. Every building was destroyed; there were more than 100 000 dead people. All countries help Haïti. This country is very poor. People can not eat; they haven't got any houses and sleep on the street.It is necessary to support and help this country which is in misery.

Its epicentre was approximately twenty five kms away from Port-au-Prince, which is the capital of Haiti .There were 170 000 corpses in all, the earthquake was between 5,0 in 5,9 on the Richter scale. The first earthquake caused lots of casualties.

Haïti is a big country, it is very poor.
Their national language is French.
On 12th January 2010, there was a strong earthquake which caused many casualties, dead and wounded.
It is estimated that there are between 100000 and 200000 deaths in all.
All was destroyed, there only remains debris.

Catalina Ponor : the best gymnast !!!

This gymnast is called Catalina Ponor, she practices gymnastics.This gymnast began when she was three years old! This gymnast is Rumanian.
In 2005, with a total of 9.9, at fifteen years old, she won the World Championship in beam and she obtained the gold medal.
She participated in the Olympic Games of Pekin. Catalina Ponor is one the best gymnasts in the world.

The Piton de la Fournaise (Furnace Peak)

The Piton de la Fournaise (Furnace Peak) is situated in the south-west of Reunion Island at 2077 m. This volcano is a volcano of effusive type that is to say the lava flows out. The last eruption took place on Thursday 5th November 2009 at about 9.50 p.m. and on Saturday 2nd January 2010 at 4.00 p.m.(1.00 p.m. in mother country). The access to the volcano has been closed and forbidden. The police has evacuated the walkers by helicopter.

The landing runways at Lyon airport.

They were closed on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. because of the snow.
The airport could reopen in the course of the day because the weather improved. The access road to the airport was almost blocked because of the heavy snow falls during the night between Friday and Saturday and during the day on Saturday.
There were 36 flights which could not take off and 47 flights were cancelled.
Sixty flights arrived between 30 minutes and 2hours late.
