Rosa Parks

Her biography:
She was born on 4th February 1913. She was a civil rights activist and she was a dressmaker.
She was African and American. She was known because in 1992, Rosa Parks published her autobiography entitled " Rosa Parks:My story ". She died on 24th October, 2005 in Detroit.
My opinion:
I think Rosa Parks is an important woman because she was a woman who had the strength and courage to stand for what was right and correct. Throughout her life, Rosa Parks had seen the segregation between the white and black people... She was FANTASTIC!

The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

The Statue of Liberty is in New York, and it’s situated on Liberty island, south of Manhattan, at the mouth of the Hudson and near Ellis Island. It has been offered by France to America in 1886, to celebrate the centenary of the statement of American’s independence and in gesture of friendship between the two nations. It has been inaugurated on October 28th, 1886 in the presence of the USA’s chairman, Grover Cleveland. The choice of brass employed for the construction was made by the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc (he was born on January 27th, 1814, and he died on September 17th, 1889 in Lausanne.)
Ellis Island has been, in the 1st part of the XXth century, the principal access for immigrants who were coming in the USA. The surface of Ellis Island is 0,13 km2.

Baseball

Baseball is a team sport. This sport is practiced particularly in the USA. Baseball has the same roots as cricket. It is played with a bat, a ball, and gloves to catch the ball. There are two teams of nine players: a pitcher, a catcher and seven other players. A game is played in nine rounds. A half-inning ends when three batsmen were removed and a round is over when the two teams pass on offense and defense. The aim of the game is to hit the ball with the bat to send it as far as possible and go around the field or stop a base. A team wins a point when a drummer has run around the ground without being blocked by an opposing defense. I think this sport is very physical and fun.

MARTIN LUTHER KING

Martin Luther King was a Baptist Afro-American minister.
He was born in Atlanta on January 15th 1929. He died on April 4th, 1968 in Memphis.
This minister is known because he was the one who made the blacks and the whites equal in the U.S.
He was one of the biggest nonviolent militants for the civil rights of the blacks in the U.S.
For me, Martin Luther King deserves a lot of honor because without him and of numerous militants, racism would always be there in America.
