My trip to England

This summer holiday, I went to England with my parents. We took the boat to go there. We went to the Brighton pier. I took a ghost train in the fun fair of the Brighton pier. I was afraid. I saw Stonehenge too. That's a beautiful place. I went to the village of Lacock, there is an abbey where they did some scenes of the Harry Potter movie !! Then we went to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare and his family's houses. We went to Birmingham because we went to see my mum's penfriend. For my birthday we went to a shopping day, we visited an aquarium and took a boat to go on canals. During the night, there was a riot ! I also visited Oxford and Cambridge.
I chose this subject because these were my best holidays !

The Two Lives of Miss Charlotte Merryweather

This book was written by Alexandra Potter in 2008.
The Two Lives of Miss Charlotte Merryweather is a book that I read and enjoy because it speaks of the past, of the present and of the future, that is to say that it makes us understand that the mistakes of the past build our present.
Here is the story : Charlotte Merryweather is 32 years old. She runs her own public relations firm, lives in an apartment in London, is dating Miles, a nice but boring boy. In a traffic jam, she notices an old beetle, decorated exactly like the one she was driving 10 years ago. Stunned, she decided to follow it... and recognizes herself driving 10 years ago. Rounder, dressed as a bag, visibly happy and carefree. Charlotte sympathizes with this version of herself. But she hasn’t got the miraculous recipe for happiness and the unknown is full of surprises.
This book is easy to read, funny, but mostly, it makes us wonder « what about our lives? » Always make good decisions because ultimately we learn by our mistakes and it is better to live than to regret.

The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

The Statue of Liberty is in New York, and it’s situated on Liberty island, south of Manhattan, at the mouth of the Hudson and near Ellis Island. It has been offered by France to America in 1886, to celebrate the centenary of the statement of American’s independence and in gesture of friendship between the two nations. It has been inaugurated on October 28th, 1886 in the presence of the USA’s chairman, Grover Cleveland. The choice of brass employed for the construction was made by the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc (he was born on January 27th, 1814, and he died on September 17th, 1889 in Lausanne.)
Ellis Island has been, in the 1st part of the XXth century, the principal access for immigrants who were coming in the USA. The surface of Ellis Island is 0,13 km2.

Baseball

Baseball is a team sport. This sport is practiced particularly in the USA. Baseball has the same roots as cricket. It is played with a bat, a ball, and gloves to catch the ball. There are two teams of nine players: a pitcher, a catcher and seven other players. A game is played in nine rounds. A half-inning ends when three batsmen were removed and a round is over when the two teams pass on offense and defense. The aim of the game is to hit the ball with the bat to send it as far as possible and go around the field or stop a base. A team wins a point when a drummer has run around the ground without being blocked by an opposing defense. I think this sport is very physical and fun.
