Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was born on 18th July 1918. He was a South Africa man.

-In 1952, he created a protest movement against the racist laws of his country. His fight made him the most famous political prisoner in the world.

-In 1962 Mandela was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. The authorities wanted to stop him. He was offered freedom against silence. Mandela refused.

 

-After 27 years of captivity, Mandela was freed by President Frederik De Klerk. Racism against black stopped, and in 1993, Mandela and De Klerk received the Nobel Peace Prize

 

-Mandela was elected president in 1994 until 1999.

 

-For lots of people he was the father of the new Republic of South Africa -He died on 5th December 2013
